Many of the school's students live in State University Hostals. Most Postgraduate Students live independently in privately rented accommodation -flats which are frequently shared. A deputy Registrar has special responsibilities for some aspects of the administrative side of the student welfare services.
Accommodation for families is better in families hostals. IUFS have some flats for rents under agreement. The following figures for 1998 provide a guide but the cost will vary according to the location and to the amenities provided, and will rise with inflation;
Single room sharing kichen, bathroom etc..US$ 150 per month.
Double room sharing kichen bathroom etc.. US$ 200 per month
Single room with breakfast US$ 140 per month
One bedroom flat ...US$ 250 per month
Two bedroom flat ..US$ 400 per month.
Charges for gas, electricity, and telephone ( local call only) cost and additional 85 US$ per month Although You may find cheaper accommodation in some areas outside central St.Petersburg. There are more than 40 University hostals where some students can have hostals facilities with internal students. These University hostals charges around US$ 700 -1500 per academic year.
