World Arts & Cultural Orientation Programme
CULTURAL PROGRAMME

The program of the International University of Fundamental Studies (IUFS) - The Hermitage with the participation of the tourist agency "Gryphon" and "Intertourprogect".

The purpose of the program is getting acquainted with Russia's History, Development and Culture.

The topics:
1. The History of the Russian State.
2. Russia's Cultural Monuments and Theatres.
3. Eating Culture as a layer of mixture of Russia's nationalities.
4. Russian language.
5. Theatrical art as the reflection of Russia's soul.

Arrival altogether, 75 people (2 buses, 3 excursion groups, except for special visits, 3 meals a day).

1st day, 29.04 Reception. A meal (depending on the arrival time).
2nd day, 30.04 9-0010-0011-0014-0016-00 Breakfast. Meeting of the group. Giving student's cards. Arranging by buses, groups, appointing group monitors, organizational questions. Introductory lecture - "St. Petersburg as the beginning of modern Great Russia's development".Lunch.Sightseeing tour around St. Petersburg. Dinner in the hotel.

4th day, 2.05 8-009-0019-00 Breakfast.Bus trip - "The First Capital of Russia (Staraya Ladoga)". Lunch + dinner in the hotel.
5th day, 3.05 9-0010-0013-0014-30 Breakfast. Lecture - "The Formation of Russia". Lunch.Russian lesson. Dinner in the hotel.
6th day, 4.05 8-009-0020-00 Breakfast. Bus trip to Velikiy Novgorod. Lunch in the Detinets restaurant, Russian cuisine. Dinner in the hotel.
7th day, 5.05 9-0010-0014-0017-00 Breakfast. Bus trip - "Brilliant St. Petersburg". Lunch (national cuisine). Russian lesson. Dinner in the hotel.

9th day, 7.05 9-0010-0013-0015-00 Breakfast. Trip to Peter's the 1st Small House ("Domic"), Summer Garden and Summer Palace. Lunch. Excursion to the Marble Palace. Dinner in the hotel.
10th day, 8.05 9-0010-0014-0015-30 Breakfast. Excursion to the Hermitage and the Golden Chamber. Lunch. Getting acquainted with the exposition of the State Hermitage located in the General Headquarters. Dinner in the hotel.
11th day, 9.05 9-0010-0013-0015-00 Breakfast.Excursion to the Russian Museum.Lunch (national cuisine). Excursion to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. Dinner in the hotel. Going to the Mariinsky Theatre.
12th day, 10.05 9-0010-0012-3014-0015-30 Breakfast.Excursion to St. Isaak's Cathedral. Excursion to the Church-on-Blood. Lunch (national cuisine). Excursion to Menshikov's Palace. Dinner in the hotel.
13th day, 11.05 9-0010-0012-0014-0016-00 Breakfast.Excursion to Suvorov's Museum.Excursion to the Artillery Museum. Lunch. Excursion to the Navy Museum. Dinner. Going to St. Petersburg Music Hall.
14th day, 12.05 9-0010-00 Breakfast. Trip to the Palace-and -Park Ensemble Tsarskoe Selo and the Palace-and-Park Ensemble Pavlovsk.
15th day, 13.05 9-0010-00 Breakfast. Trip to the Palace-and-Park Ensemble Peterhof. Lunch. Dinner in the hotel.
16th day, 14.05 7-308-0017-00 Breakfast.Rest-day: outing to a hunting farm - getting acquainted with a mini-zoo, museum of Vodka, plate-shooting for extra money; going to Alexandre Svirsky Monastery for those who so desire.Lunch + dinner "Russian Hunting".
17th day, 15.05 9-0010-0013-0014-30 Breakfast. Bus excursion -"The Romanovs' death".Lunch (national cuisine). Excursion to active cathedral of St. Petersburg. Dinner in the hotel.
18th day, 16.05 9-0010-0014-3016-00 Breakfast. Excursion to Yusupov's Palace.Lunch (national cuisine). Excursion to Kunstkamera (the Chamber of Curiosities). Dinner in the hotel.
19th day, 17.05 9-0010-0015-30 Breakfast. Excursion to Dostoevsky Museum. Excursion to Mikhaylovsky Castle. Lunch (national cuisine). Dinner. Going to circus (theatre).
20th - 21st days, 18-19.05 8-00 Breakfast.2-day bus trip to Pskov - Pushkinskie Gory.
22nd day, 20.05 9-0010-0015-00 Breakfast.Excursion to the Cabin of a Post-master. Excursion to the Palace-and-Park Ensemble Gatchina. Lunch. Going to the Pyramid casino and dinner. Bus trip - "Opening the Bridges".
23rd day, 21.05 9-0010-00 Breakfast.Excursion - "Rivers and Canals of St. Petersburg". Excursion to the Wax Figure Museum. Lunch. Dinner in the hotel. Going to Musorgsky Opera and Ballet Theatre.
24th day, 22.05 9-0010-0014-0016-00 Breakfast. Elective visit to the Hermitage/the Russian Museum. Lunch (national cuisine). Excursion to the Russian Ethnographical Museum (with a folklore ensemble)Dinner in the hotel.
25th day, 23.05 9-0010-0015-00 Breakfast.Elective visit. Lunch. Dinner. Jazz-hall.
26th day, 24.05 9-0010-0014-0020-00 Breakfast. Impression Consolidation: Great City. Excursion to the Puppet Museum(present from the firm). Lunch. Free time. Russian Dinner-Party with folklore program.

We are proud to introduce the original events coming our of St.Petersburg - Summer 2001 - Arts Institutes ( Programme A: 26-day ( in July), and Programme B: 26-day (August) programmes), under the main programme of WORLD ARTS & CULTURAL ORIENTATION PROGRAMME, in St.Petersburg as 'one of the most beautiful, old and most preserved cities of the world'.

Our main idea is to present to our visitors/students and artists the proud city of a glorious past, its architecture, its arts, to tell you and show you about its maritime and commercial past, science, philosophy, literature, diplomacy, culture and any other facet of life that in many ways presented the avant-garde throughout the historical pace of Europe.

The goal of the Culture Programme is to contribute to the renewal, development and integration of the different spheres of Russian and American Culture in the context of global culture. The programmes encourage experimentation, qualitative innovation, co-operation among the various Russian ethnic and confessional minority cultures, and creative contacts with Western and Eastern cultures.
This programme block comprises the programmes of Cultural Infrastructures, Performing Arts, and the Soros and Paul Getty Centre for Contemporary Arts. Jointly with the Publishing Programme, presentation of Russian Culture was undertaken at the "East-West" festival in Die (France). A wide variety of attractions was offered to the visitors of the festival, from folk crafts to publishing. Over 500 American Artists , teachers and students participated in this 26-day event.
