INTERNATIONAL
ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM
IELTS is a test of English language proficiency.
It is a way of assessing the English of non-native speakers who
want to study or train using English. The test is offered on
demand and measure general language skills and also skills needed
for studying and training. It is suitable for undergraduates
and postgraduates. For many international students an accurate
assessment of their English, followed by recommended tuition
to correct problem areas, can mean the difference success and
failure - or between and enjoyable or stressful learning experience.
As well as testing candidates, the British Council helps receiving
institutions interpret test results and then decide about pre-sessional
English language tuition. Almost all British Council offices
overseas administer the IELTS test.
How to apply
and take the test
You will need to apply about 4 to 6 weeks
before you want to sit the sit. Fill in the application form
and send it back to the test centre with a photo of your self
and the test fee or contact our IUFS Faculty of British Education
- Preparity Faculty Registrar at Email: Registrar@iufs-edu.com
for more information.
You can only apply to ONE test centre and
for ONE test at any time. If you are unsuccessful in your test
you cannot take another test until a minimum of 90 days has past.
Doctors
The General Medical Council now require
overseas doctors wishing to be registered in Britain to sit the
Academic IELTS test before the PLAB test. IELTS is now an intergral
part of the PLAB and therefore no other English proficiency test
is acceptable.
PLAB and IELTS application form should
have identical details, especially the name and address as the
two results will be joined together.
Doctors taking PLAB need to get an overall
IELTS score of at 7 but must not score less than 6 in any section
of the test.
Dentists
IELTS is used as the measure of language
proficiency for overseas candidates before attending the Statutory
Examination of the General Dental Council. For those whose language
of instruction in Dental School was not English, a stamped IELTS
Test Report with an overall score of at least 7.0 and not less
than 6 in any of the sections, including the Academic Reading
and Writing Modules, is required. |
